Ganesha

This statue of Ganesha, crafted in the 11th-century Baphuon style, beautifully depicts the elephant-headed deity, the beloved son of Shiva and Parvati. According to Hindu mythology, Ganesha earned his distinctive head after Shiva, unaware of his son’s identity, beheaded him in anger during a misunderstanding. To console Parvati, Shiva replaced the boy’s head with that of an elephant. Worshipped for guiding success while upholding moral order, Ganesh is known as the Lord of Beginnings, the Remover of Obstacles, the God of Wisdom, Intelligence, and Education, the Protector of Arts and Sciences, and the God of Prosperity and Abundance. His elephant head represents wisdom and a broad perspective; his large ears, the importance of listening; his trunk, adaptability and strength; and his large belly, generosity and the capacity to embrace both life’s challenges and blessings. This high-quality replica, meticulously cast from the original housed in the National Museum of Cambodia in Phnom Penh, preserves the intricate artistry and enduring cultural significance of this timeless masterpiece.
